TALL SHIP STAVROS S NIARCHOS
the T S STAVROS S NIARCHOS was built in 2000, she is operated by the tall ships youth trust and was designed to provide young people opportunity to undertake character-building exercises, she has a sister ship, the PRINCE WILLIAM, photos here, the ship brand new at Southampton in 2000, tall ships races in Lisbon 2006, tall ships races in Liverpool 2008 and the last two, when she was opened to the public, during the spring at the waterfront, event that took place in Liverpool in May this year

THE TALL SHIP RACES 2011 STARTS THIS WEEK IN IRELAND
50 Tall ships are expected this week end at Waterford in Ireland, next stop would be Greenock from the 9th to the 12th July a spectacle not to be missed, there is further information about the event in Scotland on a different post in this blog, photos of the tall ships when they visited Saint-Malo in 2006
SAILING SHIP "DUCHESSE ANNE" PRESERVED AT DUNKIRK
Built in 1901 as the GROSSHERZOGIN ELISABETH the "DUCHESSE ANNE" was saved from scrap in 1981 by the City of Dunkirk, today she is an exhibit at the Musee Portuaire at Dunkerque, she looks amazing, photos taken on the 22sd June 2011

TALL SHIP "JUAN SEBASTIAN DE ELCANO"
the T S JUAN SEBASTIAN DE ELCANO was built in Cadiz, Spain in 1927, she was named after the Spanish Explorer with the same name, captain of the last FERDINAND MAGELLAN voyage, he actually completed the first circumnavigation of the world because MAGELLAN was killed during the battle of Mactan in the Philippines in 1521, the ship is seen here in Lisbon in 2006 during the tall ships races

TALL SHIP "KATHLEEN AND MAY" A UNIQUE SHIP
Built in 1900 the schooner KATHLEEN & MAY is the last wooden triple-masted sailing schooner still in existance, she has been renovated to her original form and is a delight to watch, few photos taken on the 7th June 2011 when the ship visited Liverpool

This summer Greenock will thrive with the tall ships races

LISBON to host TALL SHIPS RACE in 2012
After six years the beautiful TALL SHIPS are back in Lisbon in July 2012, the event will take place between the 19th and 22sd of July, the races will start in France at the beautiful brittany city of Saint-Malo, from here the ships sail to the portuguese capital, Cadiz and La Coruna in Spain are the next ports of call, with the races due to end at Dublin in August. For the most memorable youth festival in the world and to witness once again the beauty of these rather unique sailing ships no doubt, something to look forward for 2012, also Lisbon is a beautiful city with an amazing natural harbour as well as hot, for those seeking warmer climates, all photos here included are from 2006 the last time the TALL SHIPS called at Lisbon, for further information please visit following websites
